The Composer Collaborations residency cultivates collaborations between student composers and performers to create new song compositions. Florestan artists will work with these students on various issues common to contemporary music and song repertoire, including effective text setting and interpretation, and stimulating cooperation between musicians. If possible, Florestan would welcome the participation of poets and composers working together as partners in new song works.
A typical residency involves at least one singer and one pianist from the Florestan Recital Project. Prior to the residency, Florestan will consult with faculty and students at the hosting institution in choosing repertoire, collaborations and appropriate performance activity for the students’ work. Upon completion of the residency and the songs’ premieres, Florestan will offer the space for listening and distribution on the organization’s website.
