Sandra Piques Eddy, Mezzo Soprano, is a National Semi-Finalist and 1st Place New England Regional Winner of the 2000 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. The Boston Globe recently praised Sandra as "a charismatic mezzo with future star written all over her." Sandra has performed with Boston Baroque, Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Civic Symphony, Glimmerglass Opera, Handel and Haydn Society, Opera Institute, Ohio Light Opera, Opera Lirica, Opera to Go, and the Amherst Symphony. A member of the Opera Institute, her operatic roles include Sesto (La clemenza di Tito), Dinah (Trouble in Tahiti), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Page (Salome), Nancy (Albert Herring), Kate (Madama Butterfly), Valletto and Amore (L'Incoronazione di Poppea), Don Ramiro (La finta giardiniera), Foreign singer (Postcard from Morocco), Teiresias (Merryman's Antigone), Melissa (Princess Ida) and both Anna I and Anna II (Weill's Seven Deadly Sins). Opera News called Sandra's voice "mellifluous" in her portrayal of Melissa on CD under the Newport Classics label of the Sullivan operetta. Ms. Eddy has won concerto/aria competitions at both Opera Lirica and at the Boston Conservatory, where she acquired her Bachelor's degree in music education. She is a student of Susan Ormont.
