A chameleon-like soprano, Sabrina Learman is a frequent performer in the Boston area. She has been a soloist with numerous groups, including Opera New England, in the role of Gretel in Hansel and Gretel for the company's New England tour; the Boston Chamber Ensemble, in the United States premier of two Mozart arias; Composers in Red Sneakers, First Mondays in Jordan Hall Series, Stephen Drury's Enchanted Circle Series, and the Nashoba Valley Chorale. An advocate of new/chamber music, she has performed works from all eras, inlcuding Sciarrino's Lohengrin (Boston premiere); Copland's In the Beginning and As It Fell Upon a Day; Ravel's Trois Poèmes de Stéphane Mallarmé; Mozart's Requiem; Bach's Mass in b minor, St. Matthew Passion, Magnificat, and various cantatas; Handel's Messiah; Argento's Letters from Composers; Honegger's King David; Stravinsky's Les Noces and The Four Songs; Rhodes' Visions of Remembrance. In addition to live performance, Ms. Learman has recorded for the Discovery Channel, Boston Baroque, and the Zamir Chorale of Boston. With a passion for teaching voice, Ms. Learman is Co-Chair of the Voice Department at the Brookline Music, teaches privately, and has been a vocal coach for the Boston theatre group, The Freelance Players. Ms. Learman holds both a Master's degree and a Graduate Diploma from New England Conservatory, where she studied with Kathleen Kaun and Tamara Brooks, and was the 1996 recipient of the Gunther Schuller Award; she holds a Bachelors degree from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Thomas Paul. Ms. Learman lives in Boston with her husband and daughter.
